Lonnie and Angelene Johnson are the chef and manager at the new Eagle's Nest Restaurant at Eagle Cove Marina. With the expanded offerings of traditional Southern cooking on Sundays, Lonnie also offers juicy barbequed meats with succulent homemade secret sauces that tempt and tingle the tastebuds.

Lonnie discovered his love of cooking when he was a young boy growing up in the Taylorville community. Lonnie's mother wanted all her children to participate in church activities, but Lonnie discovered his enjoyment came after Sunday school lessons were over when he could get in his Mama's kitchen and cook up Sunday lunch for his family.


As a young man, Lonnie began smoking meats for the Senior Citizen's Christmas Dinner in his community. Being a person of great creativity and ingenuity, Lonnie fashioned his first cooker out of an old freezer in order to keep up with the eating demands of a large group.

 Lonnie was also a chef for the Taylorville Community Labor Day Picnic where he learned the art of frying fine Southern catfish. Even today, folks come back year after year for Lonnie's famous Southern Fried Catfish.

The restaurant offers a traditional Southern buffet on Sundays and features succulent Boston butt, fried catfish, and chicken dinners on Fridays and Saturdays. Call the restaurant today for information on catering for your special event or holiday!
